AROUND 30 foreigners were checked and 25 packets of cigarettes brought into the country illegally were found during a joint operation conducted by local enforcement agencies in Temburong District on Tuesday night.
There were seven offences under Section 146 (1) (d) of Excise Order 2006.
The joint operation was carried out by the Royal Brunei Police Force, especially the Temburong Police District, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Immigration and National Registration Department, Narcotics Control Bureau, Religious Enforcement Division and Halal Food Control Division.
A total of 48 enforcement personnel led by Traffic Control and Investigation Officer of Temburong Police District Assistant Superintendent Police Pengiran Azlan Shah bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad took part in the operation that targetted foreign workers’ houses.
The joint operation were conducted at three areas, namely foreign workers’ quarter in Kampong Batang Tuau, Senukoh and Kampong Bantaian.
The main aim of the joint operation was to ensure there are no contraband and items to be used for criminal activity.
