TWENTY-FOUR military personnel from neighbouring countries concluded the English Language Course for Foreign Armed Forces Session 2019 organised by the Training Institute of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
Guest of honour, Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force Colonel Haji Damit bin Haji Bakar presented the certificates and top students awards to participants in a ceremony at the Training Institute, in Penanjong Garrison.
Sergeant Apisak Thadthiam from the Royal Thai Armed Forces received the award for the overall ‘Best Student’, while Sergeant Clerk Thaw Zin Phyo from the Myanmar Armed Forces was the recipient of the ‘Most Improved Student’ award and Sergeant Apisak Thadthiam was selected as the ‘Best Oral Presenter’.
Its 6th iteration since the course’s commencement in 2010, TI RBAF has hosted a number of military personnel from neighbouring countries. The course was initially attended by foreign military personnel from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Lao People’s Army. The course has since expanded to cater to participants from six ASEAN member countries.
The course which began from February 11 to March 15 was participated by personnel ranging from the rank Sergeant to Major from Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, Tentara Nasional Indonesia, Lao People’s Army, Myanmar Armed Forces, Royal Thai Armed Forces and Vietnamese People’s Army. The primary objectives of this course were to develop the participants’ proficiency in writing, reading, and speaking the English Language and also to improve their communication skills in both social and professional settings.
Also in attendance were the Ambassadors and Defence Attachés from the participating countries, directors, commandants, senior officers, teachers and instructors.
