His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to bestow personal gifts to 21,254 recipients in the country – comprising those with special needs, orphans, the poor, and those who receive monthly welfare assistance – in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Recipients in Brunei-Muara District received the personal gifts at the International Convention Centre (ICC) and BRIDEX Hall yesterday, while those from Belait, Tutong and Temburong districts will collect theirs today.
In view of the current situation and in safeguarding the welfare of various parties from the spread of COVID-19, distribution of His Majesty’s personal gift will be conducted in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s Operation Readiness Guideline Level 5 regulations.
Distribution centres have been set up at the Tutong District Civic Centre Complex for Tutong District; Pusat Insani in Seria for Belait District; and the PKBN Hall for Temburong District. There are 14,060 recipients from Brunei-Muara District, 3,203 from Belait District, 3,120 from Tutong District, and 871 from Temburong District this year.
This is the 12th time the ceremony has been held, with the intention of alleviating the burden of the underprivileged.
It is hoped that the distribution of His Majesty’s personal gifts is implemented in an organised manner and in line with carrying out the responsibilities that have been entrusted by His Majesty who wishes to see the less fortunate groups in the country receive care and affection from His Majesty in conjunction with this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
