Spotlight falls on radiology

The Radiology Department, Ministry of Health marked the International Day of Radiology at the lobby area of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital yesterday.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of RIPAS Hospital Abdol Hazis bin Haji Ahad was the guest of honour.

The highlight of the celebration was a video presentation and special exhibition highlighting radiologists in the frontline to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

Deputy Head of Radiology Department Dr Nor Lenny binti Abdullah in her speech said this year’s celebration was about recognising the dedication of imaging professionals in treating COVID-19 and their essential role in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic making an indispensable contribution to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

“For the International Day of Radiology 2020, the motto ‘Radiologists and radiographers support patients during COVID-19’ was chosen.

“With this phrase, we invite everyone to celebrate the critical role that medical imaging has played during the pandemic,” she said.

The International Day of Radiology is celebrated annually on November 8 with the aim of building greater awareness of the value that radiology contributes to safe patient care, and improving public understanding of radiographers role in the healthcare continuum.
