Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) former directors were feted at the Majlis Silaturrahim FRD Personnel of Squad 23/86-87 Ambuyat Kitchen in Kampong Lambak Kiri, Jalan Pasir Berakas recently.
Former directors Dato Paduka Haji Yakub bin Haji Md Yussof, Pengiran Haji Omarali bin Pengiran Haji Idris, Pengiran Haji Md Daud bin Pengiran Haji Mohamad and Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Yahya bin Haji Abdul Rahman held the post between the 80s until recent years.
The ceremony began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Tahlil for FRD personnel who have passed away.
Organising committee chairman Muhamad Ali bin Hassan acknowledged the sacrifices and dedication of the former FRD trainers, noting that their guidance and leadership allowed squad members to become who they are today.
He said of the 148 members of Squad 23, only some were able to attend the gathering. For several squad members, it had been 30 years since they last met. The chairman presented a walking stick as a personal gift to Dato Paduka Haji Yakub.
Squad 23/86-87 was the last batch of fire recruits trained at the former Fire Training Centre in Muara, after which the first batch of female fire personnel inaugurated the new training centre in Berakas.
