A foreign worker, who had been repatriated and blacklisted from entering Brunei Darussalam, was found working at an auto repair shop in the Belait District.

The man was one of the two foreign nationals nabbed during Ops Pumpung JIPK 139/2020, led by the National Immigration and Registration Department (INRD) on car workshops in Jalan Maulana.

The foreign national was found to have violated Section 36, Chapter 17 of the Immigration Act, and further inspection on his vehicle unearthed 12 packets of cigarettes without permit.

The case has been transferred to the Royal Brunei Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.

His vehicle was also found to have no road tax, and the matter has been forwarded to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).

The other foreign worker was found with an expired immigration pass, having overstayed in the country since January 20, 2020, violating Section 15 (91), Chapter 17 of the
Immigration Act.

The Belait operation involved six personnel, led by the Chief Immigration Officer, who said the JIPK will continue to carry out operations based on public tip-offs.

He also called on public cooperation in stemming immigration violations in the country by contacting the agency’s hotline at 8734888, 8753888 (Bandar Seri Begawan) and 8984111 (Kuala Belait).
