Religious event marks Farmers, Livestock Breeders, Fishermen’s Day

The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) held a Sunnat Hajat prayer, reading of Surah Yaasin as well as a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony to mark the Farmers, Livestock Breeders and Fishermen’s Day at the Ash Shaliheen Mosque yesterday.

Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong was present.

Permanent secretary, deputy permanent secretaries, heads of departments, officers and staff at the MPRT and departments under it, farmers, livestock breeders and fishermen as well as agrifood entrepreneurs were present.

The event is held every November 1 to recognise the contribution of farmers, livestock breeders and fishermen in their role as food generators of the country.

The national Farmers, Livestock Breeders and Fishermen’s Day will be held at the Concourse Area of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas this year.

The event will feature local products by 22 entrepreneurs from plant industry, 29 from agrifood, three from the livestock industry, 11 seafood processing companies and six from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. It also coincides with the weekend Pasar

Kitani market. The MPRT will continue to implement strategies and programmes to enhance production from agriculture, fishery and agrifood commodity besides enhancing value added products to ensure food security is guaranteed.
