The Temburong Police Station on Monday thwarted an attempt to smuggle some 148 bottles of undeclared alcoholic beverages into the country from a river trail, according to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).
The attempt was foiled during a surveillance at the vicinity of the Kampong Meniup boat landing area in Mukim Bokok, where a car was seen entering the area and loading suspicious goods. Police stopped the car but the suspect evaded arrest.
Police later apprehended three local suspects in their 20s who confessed to the smuggling during questioning.
The contraband was confiscated and brought to the police station. The case has been transferred to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for investigation.
