Public tip-off helps foil alcohol smuggling attempt

Temburong Police Station personnel stopped a vehicle allegedly transporting alcohol on the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge heading towards the Brunei-Muara District, following a public tip-off.

The driver, a permanent resident, was stopped at KM11 of the bridge and detained by the police personnel.

The details were shared by Acting Commanding Officer of Temburong Police District ASP Pengiran Anak Haji Azanuddin Aman Shah bin Pengiran Anak Ismail Al-Haj during a press conference.

A number of black plastic packages were found inside containing 720 cans of beer and 120 bottles of liquor of various brands were found inside the vehicle.

The suspect, 50, and the contraband were brought to the Temburong Police Station for initial investigations. The case was handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigations.
