At Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali’s (UNISSA) 10th Hafl Al-Takharruj (convocation ceremony), there were seven graduates from the first batch of the Bachelor’s degree in Tahfiz and Qira’at.

The programme is offered by the UNISSA Faculty of Usuluddin, with specific focus on Qira’at, but the students also followed various courses including entrepreneurship, information-communication technology, dakwah and co-curriculum.

The students comprised graduates from Diploma ‘Aliya Qiraat programme offered by Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. They pursued their undergraduate studies by spending their second year under the degree programme in Tahfiz and Qira’at.

Its main objectives are to provide opportunities for students to explore the subjects and allow them competitive advantage during job search.

It also enables students to follow a one-year study programme at a prestigious university abroad.

In the academic session of 2019/2020, three excellent students were sent for the study abroad programme at the World Islamic Science Education University (WISE) in Jordan.

This year, one graduate was awarded with a First Class Honours Bachelor’s degree of Tahfiz and Qiraat. The number of students entering the programme has been increasing by the year, including applications from international students.

In another milestone achievement for UNISSA, 12 graduates successfully completed their Master’s degree in Halal Science.

The programme is under the Halalan Tayyiban Research Centre and was offered for the first time in 2017/2018, for at least one year or a maximum two-year course.
