The Diplomatic Corps hosted a farewell dinner in honour of the outgoing High Commissioner of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam Lim Hong Huai at the Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Brunei yesterday.
Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Sheikh Ahmed bin Hashel bin Rashed bin Hashel Al-Maskari in his welcoming remarks delivered farewell wishes on behalf of the diplomatic community and congratulated the outgoing envoy for his successful tenure.
He said, “We happily observed the advancement attained in Brunei-Singapore relations during the outgoing high commissioner’s tenure since 2016, covering wide-ranging and substantive cooperation in many fields.
Speaking on the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Omani ambassador said the circumstances caused by the pandemic never seemed to slow down the impressive progression in the two countries’ bilateral cooperation, as evident in the recent establishment of a reciprocal green lane between the two countries for essential business and official travels.
Lim Hong Huai extended his appreciation to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, members of the royal family, the Government of Brunei Darussalam and the Diplomatic Corps who extended their cooperation and support during his tenure in Brunei.
Lim Hong Huai presented his Letter of Credence to His Majesty on March 23, 2016.
