No injuries were reported as a vehicle caught fire at the paddy farm barrack of Wasan on Sunday morning.
Six firefighters and two fire engines led by DSO Zulkefle bin Haji Ali from Pengkalan Batu Fire Station rushed to the scene following a distress call made at 6.45am, the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) stated.
Firefighters found a parked multipurpose vehicle with its engine and part of the front seat in flames.
The fire was extinguished with a 38mm water hose. The vehicle owner evacuated safely before the firefigthers arrived.
The cause of fire and estimated damages are under investigation.
In light of the incident, the FRD urged car owners to ensure that wiring in the vehicle is done by accredited mechanics.
The FRD also advised the public to equip their vehicles with a dry chemical powder fire extinguisher, and vehicles over seven years must be checked by accredited and skilled workshops frequently.
