The Brunei Darussalam Athletics Federation (BDAF) highlighted the need to enhance the development of long-distance running in the country.

“My wish is for long-distance running events to gain popularity,” President of BDAF Major (Rtd) Mohd Talip bin Haji Mohd Tahir (pic below) said during the running clinic held in conjunction with the UBDCorp Larian Harapan event. “I would like to see the long-distance running to be developed.”

The president also urged long-distance running enthusiasts to instil self-discipline, maintain a good attitude and image.

He highlighted the basics in athletics – strength and power, speed and skill, adding the importance of the 5S’s – strength, stamina, suppleness, speed and skill.

Brunei initially planned to host a training camp this year for Asian and Southeast Asian nations before the coronavirus pandemic halted plans.
