A local duo who pleaded guilty to a joint charge of theft in a building used for the custody of property received jailed sentences in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Norlizah binti Awang, 27, received six months’ jail while Mohd Amli bin Mat Jali, 42, 10 months’ jail.
Magistrate Kamaliah Fadhilah binti Haji Ibrahim handed a longer custodial sentence to Mohd Amli as he was the mastermind behind the theft and had a previous conviction.
DPP Hajah Siti Mu’izzah binti Haji Sabli revealed in court that the duo set out by foot to a house under construction at STKRJ Telisai, Kampong Telamba, Telisai Tutong at 11pm on October 26.

They sold the cables at a scrapyard the following morning for BND7.
On October 28, a foreman found the sack containing unused cables worth BND3,000 missing and filed a police report leading to the duo’s arrest.
