The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) Library Kampong Pandan hosted a series of fun activities to encourage nearby residents to make full use of its facilities on Sunday.
Acting Library Assistant Zaiton binti Haji Nappy said, “Many of the activities today will help draw people to the library, not only to take out books.”
She said the library will continue to organise monthly garage sales and other activities.
The light rain shower did little to dampen spirits, with activities continuing uninterrupted, including a garage sale, health screening and consultation, Kenali Warisan Kitani programme, sporting events as well as a cultural heritage showcase on silat and traditional games by the Sutera Association.
The Belait Lions Club led the medical screening and consultation, in line with its mission to serve and aid communities in the district. The initiative was held in conjunction with World Diabetes Day (observed on November 14).
The club also ran its Diabetes Awareness Project, led by organising Chairperson Terry Thoo.
Belait Lions Club President Alan Chee, Membership Chair DC IPP Joseph Teo, Club Service Chair Keith Wong and member Daniel Chang assisted in conducting medical checks on 37 visitors.
