Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam in the Belait District yesterday held its Charity Fun Walk, Run, Cycle 2020, an annual fundraiser which allowed the centre’s special needs community to enjoy the fun pace of trekking across Pekan Kuala Belait.

Held at the Silver Jubilee Park, the event drew over 330 participants including several runners and cyclists.

Belait District Officer Ramlee bin Haji Jamudin was the guest of honour, accompanied by his wife and family.

They were welcomed to the venue by event co-chairman Dato Paduka Dr Haji Omar bin Haji Khalid and Pusat Ehsan Kuala Belait branch Manager Hamimah binti Sapar.

Dato Paduka Dr Haji Omar said, “The event will not be the only activity that we will hold for this district in support of charity, as this will be an ongoing project for Pusat Ehsan.”

Following a brief warm-up session, the Belait District Officer flagged the cyclists off for the 39-kilometre event from the Silver Jubilee Park to Seria via the Belait-Seria Highway, before making their way back using Jalan Tengah.

He also flagged off the Walk and Run segment of the event, where participants passed several landmarks across the perimeter of Pekan Kuala Belait, which stretched for some four kilometres.

The charity event received the support of various agencies, including the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Health, the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board, the Belait District Office, Massutera Engineering Sdn Bhd and Intracorp (B) Sdn Bhd.
