Four Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) undergraduates yesterday received certificates after completing a 14-week programme at the Brunei History Centre.
The undergraduates are pursuing studies at the UBD Arts and Social Sciences Faculty in the field of History and International Studies.
The internship aimed to produce youth with vast knowledge in history and other fields, and raise awareness on history’s importance in upholding the national identity.
Brunei History Centre Deputy Principal Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Talip presented the certificates. Two representatives Ahmad ‘Alween bin Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mazanan and Nur Izzati Khairunissa binti Abdul Khalid shared their experience of the programme.
During the internship, the undergraduates were tasked with analysing documents available at the Borneo Research Centre, and writing short features.
They were also exposed to practical research that included history transcription through interviews, marking tomb stones and the various history research methodology.
Their articles from the research and interviews will be published in the centre’s Majalah Pusaka.
