Employment Order violations highlighted

A briefing on the implementation of compound fines under Employment Order 2009, implemented on October 15, was held in the Belait District for the private sector yesterday.

Assistant Commissioner of Labour Aemy Azlena binti Haji Azahari as the Head of Labour Office Belait Branch chaired the briefing conducted by Acting Assistant Commissioner of Labour from Prosecution and Legal at the Labour Department Mohammad Hazizul Hassan.

He highlighted that violations of the Employment Order 2009 and regulations under it are liable for fines for the first and second offences. The third offence will be brought to court for prosecution. Every offence will face a fine of no more than BND1,000.

The session also touched on offences that can be fined as stated in Section 147 of the Employment Order 2009 and Domestic Service Licence by referring to the Employment Regulations (Offence) 2017.

Some 50 employer representatives from the private sector attended.
