Creating sustainable economy is main priority, says minister

As Brunei ramps up its efforts to move away from its reliance in the oil and gas industry and unsustainable fiscal spending, the country’s main priority is in maintaining and improving the quality of life for the people by creating a sustainable economy for today and the next generation. Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah said this during a dialogue with middle management civil service officers on Monday as part of the minister’s talk on ‘Brunei’s Economy after Oil and Gas: How should we prepare?’, to brief participants on Brunei’s current economic status as well as the challenges of preparing the country for economic stability while reducing reliance on oil and gas resources.
