Court orders murder suspect to be mentally assessed

The woman charged with the murder of an Indonesian maid in a house in Kampong Mumong was ordered by court on Monday to be mentally assessed by the Mental Health Unit, while the jointly charged man is ordered to remain in remand while further investigations are ongoing.

Hassan bin Yussof, 65, and wife Rosnani binti Tanga, 51, face a charge of the murder of a 37-year-old Indonesian woman at a house in STKRJ Kampong Mumong, Jalan Derma Wangsa, Kuala Belait sometime between 6am and 8am on October 10.

Senior Magistrate Azrimah binti Abdul Rahman adjourned the case to November 23.

Both defendants are now represented by defence counsel Roy Prabhakaran. DPP Rozaimah Abdul Rahman represented the public prosecutor in the case.
