Brunei landmarks light up for Universal Children’s Day

The Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SHOAS) Bridge and the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha (RIPAHS) Bridge lit up with blue lights yesterday until November 22 from 7pm-5am in conjunction with the Universal Children’s Day.

Brunei’s participation in commemorating the day is part of the nation’s commitment in ratifying the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) on December 1995.

The public can take pictures of the bridges and upload it to social media with the hashtag #UniversalChildrensDayBN or #WorldChildrensDay.

The colour blue is chosen to symbolise the day in conjunction with the official colour of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). It is celebrated every November 20 globally.
