The Brunei Darussalam National Badminton Association (BDNBA) hopes to increase its members especially among the younger generation who has the passion to develop the sport.

This was said by BDNBA President Pengiran Haji Hamzah bin Pengiran Haji Mohammad during the closing ceremony of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Level 1 Coach Education course at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex yesterday.

He said badminton could also be seen as the second most popular sport in Brunei Darussalam after football.

Pengiran Haji Hamzah also hoped that participants can impart their newly acquired knowledge to the public especially badminton enthusiasts who lack coaching, especially in terms of the proper techniques despite being good at it.

He also conveyed gratitude to the Youth and Sports Department for supporting the association’s ambition in developing badminton. Seven participants attended the course, organised by the BDNBA in cooperation with the Youth and Sports Department under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Participants were selected after being shortlisted through the list of candidates sent by BDNBA representatives in each district. The next course will be held next year.

Head of Coaching and Development Unit at the Youth and Sports Department Noorfairuzah Hani binti Haji Mohammad @ Haji Zaini was also present.
