The Preventive Drug Education (PDE) actively conducts activities to battle drug abuse issues, employing the social media as a platform for public outreach, Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Acting Assistant Director Hajah Nurdina binti Haji Muhammad Ali said.

This includes the preparation of information and videos for upload onto Instagram and Facebook, she said.

She made these comments at a prize presentation ceremony for winners of the PDE Instagram Quiz, organised by the PDE Branch of the NCB. Nur Arina Batrisya binti Arzuna bagged the first place grand prize in the PDE Instagram Quiz, while the other grand prizes winners were Hajah Atikah binti Suhaili, Isa bin Gusti, Marini Mohd Hassan and Mohammad Nafie’hijazi bin Mohd Lani. NCB Director cum guest of honour Mohd Zalani bin Haji Ismail presented prizes to winners at the ceremony at NCB in Jalan Tungku yesterday.

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.

This year’s theme ‘Better Knowledge for Better Care’ reflects the importance of emphasising the need to increase knowledge and understanding of global drug issues, and how enhancing knowledge can foster solid international cooperation in addressing and responding to the impact on health, governance and security, Hajah Nurdina said.

The 14 winners had the opportunity to win five grand prizes, including a laptop, two Garmin watches, a mobile phone and a 32’ television.

The quiz ran from June 27 to August 28, and included 10 anti-drug briefing videos.
