A total of 32 individuals comprising 12 locals, two permanent residents and 17 foreign nationals were each issued BND100 compound fine for littering in public areas.
The operation, codenamed Operasi Bersih 19/2020 by the Law Enforcement Unit of Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB) Municipal Department, caught the violators committing the offences at market places and alleyways under the jurisdiction of BSB Municipal Department. They were found to have violated Section (1)(a), Chapter 30 of the Minor Offences Act.
The local offenders were: Muhammad Ulfi Hakeemi bin Khairul Shaffarani, Mohd Zaim bin Hassan, Moharin bin Tahir, Muhammad Azinuddin bin Haji Madzneh, Nurul Danisha binti Ismail, Muhammad Azeezul Azzim bin Abdul Aziz, Mohd Nazreen bin Mohd Norhasmei, Awangku Muhd Zainul Fitri bin Pengiran Zoolhusni, Abdul Hakim Hassan, Mohd Mirza bin Haji Aban, Haji Md Nuh bin Haji Sabtu, Mohd Syazani and Lim Chen Haw.
The two permanent residents were Zulaihi bin Abdul Bazil and Mike Arbison Makennan anak Liam, while the foreign nationals were Malaysians Ariffin bin Yaakub and Eng Khang Yeung; as well as Indonesians Mukhlisin, Dede Alayudin Iding, A Hidayatullah, Muhd Safoan, Andikl Sulisto, Fathurrahman, Rahmat, Imam Mastuti, Agung Abadi and Muhammad Sari.
Tran Van Bien and Ngoyen Dinh Thong from Vietnam, Tomson Alburo Noynay from the Philippines with Mohammad Babul Aminur Islam from Bangladesh were also fined.
The offenders have to settle their fines within seven days at the Finance Division of the BSB Municipal Department. Failure to do so would result in a further fine of BND1,000, or a month’s imprisonment, for the first convicted offence. For subsequent offences, the penalty is a BND3,000 fine and a prison term of up to three months.
The public is reminded not to dispose rubbish in public areas.
The BSB Municipal Department also urged the public to share information on any violators under the Minor Offences Act.
