Forty-one students showed off their talents as ‘The Garden Buddies’, a Chung Ching Middle School’s Kindergarten Shining Star Programme, at the school in Seria.

Organised by the kindergarten teachers, ‘The Garden Buddies’ serves to encourage extracurricular activities and expose students to knowledge outside curriculum and was designed to increase learning abilities.

The programme saw the students divided into two groups – the ‘Bee’ and ‘Ladybug’ groups – where they participated in the six courses, from 2pm to 3.30pm every Tuesday and Thursday.

Some activities carried out during the course were handicraft, story-telling, role-playing, cooking, and a game involving garden or insects themes. The activities were led by teachers in charge of the programme Bon Mai Yean and Florence.

As the second part of the Shining Star Programme, teachers introduced a different activity. The first course implemented the idea of life cycle into story-telling named The Hungry Caterpillar.
