Two fire engines from Jerudong Fire Station responded to a vehicle fire emergency at Mar’Azmala Petrol Station in Jerudong yesterday.

The Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) received the distress call at 7.49am.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found that the fire was already extinguished by the workers of the petrol station.

The fire started in the engine of a saloon vehicle while the driver was waiting in line at the
petrol station.

Firefighters used a water hose to douse the remaining flame. No one was hurt in the incident.

The estimated cost as well as cause of the fire are under investigation.

The FRD reminded the public to be aware of car fire safety and ensure that wiring is installed by accredited workshops. Vehicles should be equipped with fire extinguishers.

Vehicles over seven years old must carry out regular checks by accredited workshops.
