Religious authorities called on the Ummah to do charitable deeds and invest in the hereafter by contributing towards funds to the Mosque Construction Fund.
Imams in the Friday sermon yesterday said contributions toward the fund can be made through a Standing Order to the bank, deducting government officers and staff salary, direct contributions toward the fund, presenting the fund to the Mosque Affairs Department, making donations at boxes at mosques, through BIBD QuickPay, SMS services and so on. SMS for the fund is open from September 9 to March 8, 2021.
Imams added constructing a mosque is a charitable and beneficial act. A mosque is a place of worship, a symbol of greatness and sign of unity of Ummah. Emphasising the significance of building mosques in spreading the teachings of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) encouraged the Ummah to build mosques where they live.
Building a mosque is an obligation for those residing in the area and is a pious act with multiple rewards. Any contribution to build a mosque is an investment for the hereafter.
Constructing a mosque requires a large financial expenditure. Citizens and residents in the country are fortunate and thankful as religion is taken seriously.
This was proven when His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented for the establishment of a fund to build mosques.
The fund is a platform and mechanism provided by the government to facilitate the people to gain rewards by building mosques, the Imams said.
