DevFest 2020 was organised at Laksamana College of Business (LCB) last Sunday, seeing the participation of over 100 people, while dozens more joined the talk through the Google Developer Group (GDG) online platform.

DevFest is an annual developers’ programme where tech enthusiasts convene to gain and share knowledge on updates in the technological sphere.

The fest aims to boost community skills in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0).

Participants had the opportunity to attend a technical lecture and workshop facilitated by local and international speakers, as well as take part in a panel discussion focussing on Brunei’s current position in the IR 4.0. The event also featured an exhibition from the developers community in Brunei Darussalam.

The lecture and workshop covered five catageories of Cloud, Mobile, Web, Machine Learning and New to Coding, facilitated by 21 speakers from all over the world, including Brunei.

An exhibition featured projects from different local developers, such as those revolving around the Internet of Things (IoT) like Home Security Alarm System and Movement Detection Security Camera; MainWear – a virtual changing room; adverture application BruHike and a virtual reality app IT Hazards that detects risks and threats in information technology.

Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Principal of LCB Sivarajah Subramaniam attended the closing ceremony.
