Swift action to rope bad apples

The recent unscheduled visit by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to government agencies was yet another sign that the issues involving the influx of foreign workers have not been resolved. It was a stark reminder to the authorities to get their act together and address issues plaguing the country once and for all.

The enforcement team has been busy conducting raids and nabbing offenders as a response to the royal visit, but I wonder if it’s simply a matter of days or weeks before things return to “normal” again. His Majesty mentioned in his titah that an abuse of power by certain insiders may have aggravated the situation. It is time to expose these rotten apples; the very dishonest and corrupt individuals who will use their position of power to grab any opportunities for personal gains. If these agencies continue to have bad apples hanging around, the issues are only going to worsen.

The authorities must act swiftly and put a stop to the bad conduct of these locals and foreigners, who have put the security of our country at risk and tarnished the good reputation of the government.
