Three foreigners detained for alleged immigration offences and brought to the Law Enforcement Division of the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) were issued special passes.
The two females and the male were taken in for further investigation under the Immigration Act and Regulation Chapter 17. Action will be taken against the three for allegedly misusing the immigration regulation passes.
The employer who was issued two notices was instructed to report to the Law Enforcement Division, INRD to assist in the investigation.
Immigration enforcement officers nabbed the trio during a raid codenamed Operasi (Op) Pumpung JIPK 136/2020 on Wednesday.
The raid targetted shops selling equipment as well as the fruit and vegetable market in Mukim Sengkurong. The raid aimed at enforcing the Immigration Act and Regulations, adhering to the Passports Act and Regulation and to nab immigration violators, the INRD stated in a release on Friday.
The raid also focussed on implementing the 2019 Prevention of Human Smuggling and 2019 Anti Human Trafficking Act as well as activities against the country’s rules and regulations.
The INRD added that the department will continuously carry out enforcement activities including monitoring, operations and inspections.
