The police found an 18-year-old sleeping outside the vicinity of the Bukit Beruang Community Hall in the Tutong District to be an alleged thief with items believed to be stolen in his possession.

The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) said they were called by the public about a man sleeping in the area.

When questioned, police found the alleged stolen items in the man’s possession linked to a number of theft cases in houses, government buildings and mosques in the Tutong District.

The suspect, who is unemployed, was arraigned in the Magistrate’s Court on Monday for charges under Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 22 for theft in a worship place; Section 426 for damage to a property and Section 477 for trespassing.

The court remitted the case to be heard in the Bandar Seri Begawan Intermediate Court today.

The police welcomes public cooperation and tip-offs in ensuring that the country is free from criminal activities.
