The Women’s Section of the Foochow Association, Kuala Belait celebrated its 20th anniversary on Sunday at the association’s main building in Kuala Belait.
Association Chairman Tan Tei Tei, permanent honorary chairman and advisors to the association attended. Head of the Women’s Section of the association Agnes Hwong, in her opening speech, highlighted the section’s formation and history.
The association’s chairman congratulated the Women’s Section for achieving the milestone of 20 years for helping to create opportunities for women in the Foochow community to thrive in expanding relations and organising activities.
“I would also like to take the opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the government, as the efforts made in combatting the COVID-19 and with the ongoing de-escalation enabled us to celebrate this milestone.”
He also thanked Women’s Section members who spent their time and effort to make the celebration a success. “Since 2001, the Women’s Section participated in many activities and also organised several activities such as the Line Dance Group which celebrated the first year anniversary.”
The celebration proceeded with a cake-cutting ceremony led by the Head of the Women’s Section followed by a group photo.
