His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made an unscheduled visit to the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) and Labour Department yesterday.
The monarch last visited the INRD and Labour Department on October 9 last year.
During the visit, His Majesty had a closer look at the Smart Card Identity Issuance Section, Registration of Birth, Death and Adoption Section, Visa, Visit and Diplomatic Pass Section and Enforcement Section.
His Majesty then visited the Labour Department including Service Counters, Workplace Health and Safety, Administration and Finance, Labour Employment Agency Division, Foreign Worker Recruitment Division, Labour Standards, Prosecution and Legislation Division.
The monarch inquired on piles of folders found to be archived and whether it is safe to put them in the area as the place is frequented by the public. His Majesty also mingled with officers and staff and asked the number of employees working in the division.
Accompanying His Majesty during the visit were Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, as well as permanent secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Prime Minister’s Office.
