CWBD holds religious event to mark Her Majesty’s birthday

The Council of Women of Brunei Darussalam (CWBD) held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony in conjunction with the birthday of Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam yesterday.

About 280 members from women’s associations under CWBD participated in the religious event at the Plenary Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas. The event began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah followed by mass recitation of Surah Adh-Dhuhaa to Surah Al-Masad led by Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Ahmad from Pertiwi Association who also recited the Takhtim while the Doa Khatam Al-Quran was read by Pengiran Hajah Rakiah binti Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar of Brunei Malay Teachers
Association (PGGMB).

A Dikir Marhaban was performed led by Women Welfare Association Belait District (PKP) and concluded with the Doa Allah Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam read by Mardiana binti Haji Reffin of Kampong Lambak Youth Association (PERBEKAL).

CWBD President Datin Hajah Siti Hajar binti Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof, Vice President I Pengiran Datin Paduka Hajah Mariam binti Pengiran Haji Matarsat, Vice President II Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali and Vice President III Hajah Kertini binti Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Diraja Haji Abu Hanifah were present.

The 13 associations that took part in the event were Pertiwi, Women’s Institute of Brunei Darussalam (WI), Welfare Body of Spouses of the Senior Government Officialsand Women Officials (BISTARI), PKP, Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association (PPPBD), PGGMB, Persatuan Kebajikan Gabongan Wanita Daerah Tutong (PERGANITA), RPN Lambak Kanan Women Welfare Organisation (BAKANITA), Women Graduates Association (PSW), PERBEKAL, Women Association Kampong Junjungan (PEWAJA), Nurul Islam Association (PNI) and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ Wives Welfare Body (BAKTI).
