Compound fines for Employment Order violations

A session was yesterday held at the Tripartite Hall of the Labour Department for 50 companies to brief them ahead of the implementation of compound fines under the Employment Order 2009, which will come into force on October 15.

Deputy Commissioner of Labour Haji Shariful-Bahri bin Haji Sawas chaired the session, which was facilitated by Acting Assistant Commissioner of Labour from the Prosecution of Legal Division Mohammad Hazizul Hassan and Senior Labour Inspector from the Law Enforcement Division Muhamad Zulfadhli Suhai.

Attendees were told that compound fines of no more than BND1,000 will be imposed on employers who violate the Employment Order 2009 for the first and second times, while the third offences will be brought to court for prosecution.
