Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam Yu Hong paid a visit to Chung Hwa School Kiudang (CHSK) on Thursday.
Yu Hong was welcomed by Chairman of the Board of Governors of CHSK Sii Tai Chuong, members of the school board and Principal Loo Shee Yun.
Sii thanked the ambassador and the Chinese Embassy in Brunei Darussalam for giving the teachers and principal the opportunity to participate in professional and cultural training courses in Guangzhou and Beijing last year.
He hoped for further collaboration with the embassy to improve the quality of Chinese education in CHSK.
“Early this year, I watched a video made by Chung Hwa School Kiudang students cheering for Wuhan’s fight against COVID-19 which left a deep impression on me. I would like to thank the teachers and students for their love and support for Wuhan,” Yu Hong said.
She highlighted that Chinese Embassy’s donation of BND10,000 to assist in the school’s future development and further promote Chinese language and culture in the country.
Yu Hong also congratulated the 69 students who participated in the International Chinese Calligraphy Competition, winning seven special gold, 14 gold, 25 silver, 20 bronze and three excellence medals.
Yu Hong expressed hope that the school will continue to participate in more competitions by the Chinese Embassy, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
Yu Hong later presented three Lifetime Honorary Advisor Awards to Jackson Ting of D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd, Chieng Ing Nang of Bayu Ilham Motors Sdn Bhd and Dr Andy Lau of Aifa Sdn Bhd for their support and contributions to the school; and four teaching awards to CHSK teachers. Yu Hong toured the school and held a brief exchange with members of the Board of Governors.
