The Brunei Shotokan Karate Association (BSKA) has announced their official affiliation with the Brunei Darussalam Karate Federation (BRUKAF), which will see more collaboration and recognition for BSKA activities by the national federation.
Moving forward, BSKA aims to invest in their youth to produce quality karate athletes who will represent Brunei Darussalam in regional and international tournaments.
This was announced during a reunion event for the country’s former karate athletes at 118 Residence in Kampong Kiulap on Wednesday night.
Over 60 former karate athletes, who represented the country in the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 1987 in Jakarta, Indonesia, attended the reunion event.
Among those present were President of BRUKAF Shihan Pengiran Haji Yura Kesteria bin Pengiran Setia Negara Pengiran Dr Haji Mohammad Yusuf, President of BSKA Shihan Pengiran Sabri bin Pengiran Haji Mohamad along with his deputy Shihan Dr Haji Kamarudin bin Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib.
The younger karate generation and representatives from Sports School Brunei were also present.
Prior to the reunion, the karate former athletes hosted a training session on October 5 at Sports School.
Regular training sessions will be conducted by BSKA at Sports Hall, Sports School Brunei, on Monday and Wednesday from 7-9pm, and Friday from 3-5pm.
