Turkish Embassy to host art exhibition

Over 194 paintings from local artist Pengiran Abdul Wahab Hassan Al-Abbas will be on display at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Brunei Darussalam from September 12-20 as part of the Embassy’s ‘The Flowing Ancient River’ exhibition.

The exhibition is based on three different but closely connected themes; ‘spiritual development’, ‘nature’ and ‘Kampong Ayer’.

The exhibition will be open to the public from September 13-20 at the embassy’s chancery at Number 27, Simpang 52, Kampong Manggis Satu from 9.30am to 5.30pm, a release from the embassy stated.

The exhibition will also feature a sharing session by Pengiran Abdul Wahab Hassan Al-Abbas on his over 42 years’ experience with arts.

An interactive live painting session by Pengiran Abdul Wahab , Pengiran Timbang bin Pengiran Haji Tuah and Dr Haji Zakaria bin Abdul Hamid with young artists and art students will also be held on September 13 at 10am followed by masterclass session with emerging artists at 3pm.

Special talks by Pengiran Wahab Hassan, Pengiran Timbang and Moderator Osman Mohammad will be held on September 17 at 3pm, while a masterclass with children with different abilities will be held on September 18 at 4.30pm.

An exclusive visit will also be organised for frontliners to express gratitude for their efforts during the pandemic.

Pengiran Abdul Wahab’s COVID-19 themed paintings titled ‘Feasting’ and ‘Appreciating Candle Lights’ will be on display, showcasing how the pandemic affects our existence during this testing time.

A total of 20 per cent of sales proceeds from Pengiran Abdul Wahab paintings will be donated to charitable non-profit organisations (NGOS), and 10 per cent for animal welfare.
