Deputy Permanent Secretary (Tourism) at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) Wardi bin Haji Mohammad Ali opened the Local Fest 2020 at The Airport Mall, Berakas on Friday.

The event is aimed at providing a platform for local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in food and beverage as well as tourism industries to be active in promoting their products, especially during the current school break.

It is also hoped the festival will serve as a benchmark for future events across all four districts.

The Local Fest 2020 is organised by AIZ Management with support from the MPRT.

Open to the public from September 17-20 and September 24-27 between 10am and 10pm, the festival features a wide array of local food items, souvenirs and services.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own reusables, such as drinking straws, shopping bags, containers, cutlery and bottles, to reduce the use of plastics in the country.
