I would like to bring the ignorance of fair trading among some individuals who sell goods on social media platforms.
Quite a number of them post their goods but not the prices. Prospective customers are asked to private message for prices.
According to the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE), businesses are required to display prices of goods in a manner that is not misleading.
How is it that these online businesses are able to get away with this misconduct? Isn’t the reason for price transparency to allow customers to make informed decision regarding the available products?
I would like to support the economy by buying locally, but this manner of doing business is putting consumers at the disadvantage as we can’t compare prices without going through the hoops of messaging these sellers individually.
