Personnel from the Temburong Police Station seized 156 bottles of contraband liquor smuggled into the country through Kampong Buda-Buda, Temburong District.
Acting Commanding Officer of the Temburong Police District Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pengiran Saifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yussof said that the seizure was made during a crime prevention patrol in the village at 11.50pm, on Monday.
The patrol also extended to the boat landing area, where two individuals were seen unloading items, while a third person waited in a nearby boat. When the police team approached them, the men sped away in the boat.
The police recovered the bottles of liquor from several black plastic bags found inside a Brunei-registered vehicle parked near the boat landing.
The confiscated items were brought to the Temburong Police Station for examination, before being handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) for further investigation.
The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), through the Temburong Police District, will continue to conduct crime prevention patrols to detect and stamp out illegal activities.
Members of the public, especially at the grassroots level, are encouraged to share information, to curb the smuggling of contraband items into the country.
