Organised sporting events now allowed

Organised sporting events for recreation such as running, walking and cycling, and exercises such as aerobics and tai chi are allowed from September 7.

This was shared by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin on the updated guidelines for organised sports during a press conference at the Al-‘Afiah Hall of the Ministry ofHealth yesterday.

Organisers must first obtain approval from relevant government agencies.

They are also required to facilitate planning for COVID-19 control measures in line with the Ministry of Health (MoH) when presenting the application. The number of entries is based on mass gathering guidelines.

Other guidelines for sports complexes remains the same, including team sports which only allows a group size of 15 people for training only.

Organising competitions are stillnot allowed.

Users of sports facilities and complexes, since the resumption of operations, totalled at 374,891 people whereby 307,822 used gyms, fitness centres and indoor and outdoor sports facilities.

Some 37,951 users played at golf courses, 8,504 visited bowling centres and 20,744 used swimming pools.
