Politeknik Brunei (PB) students should take advantage of the opportunity given to study hard, said its Acting Director Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar.

His remarks came during the college’s Personality and Motivation Ceremony held as part of the orientation for the 10th intake at the Main Conference Hall of the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas where he attended the event as the guest of honour.

He added, “Students need to fulfil their responsibilities of becoming future leaders in their chosen fields.”

The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a Doa Qunut Nazilah Bagi Menghindari Wabak COVID-19. A mass oath-taking was also carried out by the new students.

Among the objectives of the orientation were to introduce the students to the culture of PB, and to prepare them for the upcoming school year.

Yesterday’s ceremony also saw alumni sharing their experiences at PB and the successes after graduation.

Also in attendance were registrars, heads of departments, heads of schools, officers and staff of PB.

The first phase of the orientation for the 802 new students was held from July 6-14. Students were divided into four sessions in congruence with the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) guidelines amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Similar arrangement was made during yesterday’s event.
