National Orphans Fund receives record donation

A record BND350,824 was collected within 91 days for the National Orphans Fund, through this year’s SMS Brunei Prihatin, via DST Sdn Bhd and Progresif Sdn Bhd.

The fundraising campaign was held from May 2 to July 31.

The collected funds were handed over to Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, in a ceremony held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) building yesterday.

DST Chief Executive Officer Radin Sufri bin Radin Basiuni handed over BND305,824 derived from DST’s subscribers and another donation of BND10,000 from DST.

Progresif Chief Executive Officer Hajah Nurul Haniah binti Haji Jaafar, meanwhile, handed over BND31,536 derived from their subscribers and another donation of BND3,464 from Progresif.

The minister expressed his gratitude to the public for their contribution to the National Orphans Fund.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, DST Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Radin Sufri bin Radin Basiuni, Progresif Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Hajah Nurul Haniah binti Haji Jaafar and other officials in a group photo.

Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan also thanked DST and Progresif in providing SMS Brunei Prihatin as a platform for the public to contribute towards the fundraising campaign.

Also present at the handover ceremony were officials from the MCYS, DST and Progresif.

SMS Brunei Prihatin is an initiative for the National Orphans Fund carried out by the MCYS, through the Community Development Department (JAPEM), with collaboration from Radio Television Brunei (RTB), DST and Progresif.

Since its establishment in 2005, the annual project has received encouraging response from the public.

The public can continue to donate to the National Orphans Fund online through Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), or via BIBD account number 00001010049034, or directly to JAPEM located on the second floor of the MCYS building in Jalan Kebangsaan.
