Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), through its Faculty of Arabic Language (FBA), recently held a Quick Translation and Editing Workshop programme allowing participants to practise effective translation theories and techniques.

The three-day programme ended with a closing ceremony.

Assistant Rector (Academic Division) and Dean of FBA Associate Professor Dr Siti Sara binti Haji Ahmad presented certificates to facilitators and participants.

The programme was delivered in the Malay, Arabic and English languages by three facilitators comprising academics from FBA Professor Dr Moustafa Mohammed Rizk Elsawahly, Associate Professor Dr Muhammadul Bakir bin Yaakub and Dr Muhamad Alif bin Haji Sismat.

This initiative is in line with the role of the FBA as a language and translation centre that emphasises the teaching and learning of the Arabic language.

Among the content presented were teaching and practising techniques in translating literary, religious, academic and media texts. Participants also used translation software programmes to produce quality translations swiftly, in line with the digital era technological advances.
