Five Qaris and five Qariahs have been selected out of 41 semi-finalists to compete in the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1442 Hijrah/2021, alongside reigning champions Haji Mohammad bin Ali and Dayangku Siti Ummi Syazana binti Pengiran Haji Marjuki.
The announcement was made yesterday by Chairman of the Judges Panel Pengiran Haji Amiruddin bin Pengiran Haji Damit, during a presentation ceremony for the Semi-Final of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1442 Hijrah/2021.
The event was held at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) building, where Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman presented souvenirs for the national semi-finals competition.
The minister also presented prizes to the winners of the finals of the National Al-Quran Memorisation and its Understanding for 1441 Hijrah/2020.
The winners of that competition are Nur’Aliyah Amani binti Muhammad Al-Ameen with a score of 97.43 per cent in Category A, Najla’ Sabreena binti Haji Abdul Rajid with a score of 93.86 per cent in Category B, Mohammad Syabil bin Shahram with a score of 98.50 per cent in Category C, Dayangku Nurfaiezah binti Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin with a score of 96.05 per cent in Category D, and Abdul Aziz bin Noor Nasran with a score of 99.36 per cent in Category E.
The Semi-Final of the National Al-Quran Reading Competition for Adults for 1442 Hijrah/2021 were previously held at the MoRA building, on September 8-9.
Among those present at yesterday’s ceremony were Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang.
