Call for youth to upgrade capabilities, skills

Education development to produce knowledgeable, skilled and successful youth that are able to face the ever competitive global challenges is important in achieving Brunei Vision 2035.

This was stated by Acting Village Head of Kampong Belingos Ishraqi bin Haji Sidop during the launching ceremony of the Temburong Youth Open Day 2020 at the shop lobby area in Temburong yesterday.

Acting Temburong District Officer Pengiran Muhammad Ameer Mubaarak bin Pengiran Haji Hashim officiated.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari, Acting Director of Youth and Sports Mariam binti Ulat, penghulus and village heads as well as head of divisions in the district were also present.

Pengiran Muhammad Ameer said youth need to upgrade their capabilities, skills and continuously double their effort in all the fields they venture.

The involvement of various agencies including individuals, family, community and both the government and private agencies is vital in producing excellent youth, he added.

He said, the Temburong District Office will welcome collaboration or involvement of NGOs including youth from the district’s mukim and village consultative councils.

The launching ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat followed by the guest of honour’s speech and certificate presentation to participants.

An initiative by the Temburong Youth Bureau of Mukim and Village Consultative Councils, the event serves to uphold the nation’s development agenda.

A total of 12 youth associations and movements participated in the event.

The Temburong Youth Open Day was jointly organised by the bureau, the Temburong District Office and the Temburong District Youth and Sports Department.
