Young students of the fine arts learning centre Atelier Huifong Ng will be showcasing their talents in the upcoming ‘Our Abode of Peace, Brunei Darussalam’ art exhibition at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital.
The one-day event will feature 90 paintings by the participating students aged six to 14 years.
The genres cover portraiture, abstract, still life, animals, scenery and free expression, while the media include pastel, acrylic, charcoal, pencil and mixed media.
One of the main highlights is a portrait of Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah binti Pengiran Haji Salleh Ab Rahaman, painted by Pengiran Seti Amanina Wafiqah binti Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Wadood Bolkiah.
According to the centre’s founder Hui Fong, “Through painting, the student is encouraged to celebrate artistic individuality and empowered to practise creative problem-solving, while nurturing their patience in art creation. Painting fosters planning, hard work, delayed gratification and purposeful dedication to art.”
She added, “These are lifelong skills that are needed when developing confident, well-rounded individuals who will contribute to a better future.”
Additionally, the exhibition is aimed at promoting art and culture in Brunei Darussalam, by nurturing creative skills in young children and providing them with a platform to showcase their paintings.
The exhibition opens tomorrow from 10.30am to 5.30pm, at Ruang, on the second floor of the Yayasan Complex.
Atelier Huifong Ng expressed its appreciation and acknowledgement to supporting partners Ruang, Yayasan Complex, DigiMark Enterprise, and Aewon Brunei.
