Annual census to be conducted online

The Labour Department, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) will conduct the Annual Census of Employer/Employees, Wages, Earnings And Hours of Work for this year online via the Business Reporting System at www.business.gov.bn/SitePages/OBR.aspx/SitePages/OBR.aspx.

The department seeks the cooperation of private sectors, business entities, private institutions, cooperatives, associations, clubs and statutory bodies operating in Brunei Darussalam having Foreign Workers Licences or only employing local workers (no foreign workers), to provide and complete the information of local and foreign workers, including employers, owners, managers who are still working with the business entities, private institutions, cooperatives, associations, clubs and statutory bodies until or on October 30, in the census form provided on the website.

Household and Private Services are exempted from completing the census information.

The census information is to be completed online via the website using employers’, owners’, managers’ usernames obtained through registration online at e-Darussalam. Guidelines can be downloaded from the website or www.labour.gov.bn.

Only completed census information will be accepted online via the website effective on October 30. The deadline for receiving the census information is on November 30.

Employers, owners and managers are advised to complete the census information of their respective business entities, private institutions, cooperatives, associations, clubs and statutory bodies by themselves to avoid the misuse of the confidential census information by a third party that may have been trusted to complete the census information on their behalf.

Census of Employer/Employee 2019 Receipt issued for Census of Employer/Employees 2019 will expire on October 31. Under the provision of Employment lnformation Act 1974, Chapter 99, Section 3(1), employers must fill in the Annual Census of Employer’s, Employees’ Wages, Earnings and Hours of Work forms.

Under Section 8(1) of the Act, any employer who willfully refuses or neglects to furnish the particulars or information required within the time allowed for furnishing the same, or to furnish the same in the form specified or prescribed, or to authenticate the same at the place or in the manner specified or prescribed or delivery thereof or willfully furnishes or causes to be furnished any false particulars of information in respect of any matter specified in the notice requiring particulars of information to be furnished; or refuses to answer or willfully gives false answer to any question necessary for obtaining any information is committing an offence and liable to BND2,500 fine and six months’ imprisonment and if continues with the offence, a further fine of BND50 a day.
