Vehicle catches fire, driver escapes unhurt

A vehicle was destroyed by a blaze along the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway heading to the flyover towards Government Buildings Complex on Wednesday evening. No injuries were reported.

The vehicle owner, a local Malay, had evacuated before the firefighters arrived.

Six firefighters led by DSO Haji Sufri bin Haji Bolaji from the Berakas Fire Station rushed to the scene around 6.32pm following a report on the incident, the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) stated.

The fire was brought under control in two minutes.

The cause of the fire and the cost of damages are under investigation.

The FRD reminded the public to carry out regular maintenance on their vehicles and to ensure the wiring of the car is carried out by skilled workers. Vehicles should also be equipped with dry chemical powder and fire extinguishers.
